\nNearly 50 meetings with young people as part of pre-voyage preparations. Over 1,000 hours of their volunteer engagement.

Such a numerical summary of our work season is important and also simple. Evaluation is definitely a bigger challenge, and it's not easy to look at the past year's work from a distance, especially since on the day we end one season, we essentially start a new one right away. It's difficult to draw conclusions from all the new, sometimes surprising events from such a short perspective, and even harder to implement them in the preparations for the next season and future Voyages. <\/p>\n
The most challenging for us is to check, investigate, and count \u2013 whether and what long-term effects our activities bring.
\nI know that many organizations face this challenge. We're not the only ones having trouble describing the change we might be initiating. It's especially difficult to separate or isolate 'our' impact in a situation where the foundation's initiative is one of many
\nthat young sailors encounter. <\/p>\n
And we would very much like to know the degree of impact, not only because we're simply curious, but primarily to
\nlearn something (in our Foundation, we say: discover). To see whether and what we can change so that future Explorers' Voyages,
\nand perhaps also our other initiatives, can most effectively help young people stay on the right course. <\/p>\n
Evaluation is an engaging process, and if it's to be conducted thoroughly, which is the only way it makes sense, it's always a challenge, certainly for a small organization like ours. Nevertheless, many signs indicate that preparing and conducting the evaluation process
\nin the Explorers' Voyage Foundation will be one of our most important tasks in the near future. <\/p>\n
Seven years of operation.
