Climate Change on MORE Screens
Climate change is a contemporary challenge, important for all of us. On MORE screens as part of the “Transformations” series, we address this topic and show what it means that the climate is changing. We've invited our scientific partners to collaborate: Climate Science and Science I Like.
Climate Change is an Important Topic
Unfortunately, climate protection was long delayed, making some consequences already inevitable and irreversible. Ineffective actions or lack thereof can cause even more serious effects, which is why it's important to keep talking about them in public spaces.
Climate change is mainly caused by the emission of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide, methane, or nitrous oxide, which are produced by human activity. These gases trap heat in the atmosphere and cause temperatures to rise on Earth. Climate change is therefore a global problem and requires joint action at various levels: international, national, local, and individual.
The effects of climate change are increasingly visible and felt around the world. Temperatures are rising, glaciers are melting, sea levels are rising, and extreme weather events such as droughts, floods, hurricanes, or fires are intensifying. Climate change affects not only the natural environment but also health, security, economy, and society.
Climate Science
The mission of Climate Science editors is to explain the physical processes governing climate, report on current research findings, and dispel climate myths.
Using NASA photos, we've shown together how the climate is changing: how it was and how it is now.
Science. I like It
Climate by definition is variable, but is this change we're witnessing natural?
Is the climate really changing?
Will Poland turn into a desert?
Dr. Tomasz Rożek answers these questions in the “How Climate Works” series on the channel Science. I Like It. There you will learn about climate change in a very accessible and interesting way.
MORE Screens on Climate Change
MORE screens enable communication and presentation of thoughts and views between different social groups.
It's important to inform people about climate change, its causes and effects, as they represent one of the greatest threats to the environment, society, and economy on Earth. The problem is not new, of course; climate has changed many times throughout our planet's history. However, the changes currently observed are unprecedented in both scale and pace, and these are mainly caused by human activities.
Climate change is a difficult and complicated topic, but also important and urgent. By talking about it, we contribute to greater awareness. So let's seek information, read, ask questions - knowledge about climate change is a shared responsibility and opportunity.
