August 1 in Warsaw

In a few hours, Warsaw will come to a standstill as residents pay tribute to the Insurgents.
In Jet Line's archives, there is one special project from August 2004 that we are recalling today.

We were invited to collaborate on a photographic exhibition
in Warsaw's Old Town.
The exhibition was titled "A Fragment of Free Warsaw - Daily Life in the Insurgent Old Town in Photographs
by Jerzy Chojnacki" and continued in its traditional format at the nearby
Historical Museum of Warsaw.

The photographer was Jerzy Chojnacki "Chojna," who documented the insurgent capital,
striving to capture more than just reportage-style photographs.
Chojnacki - the artist - captured everyday life, street perspectives, and ruined buildings along them in his frames.
The exhibition was arranged to integrate wartime photos into today's landscape, though this wasn't possible everywhere. Descriptions, location maps, and contemporary photos enhanced the experience, making it a history lesson during walks.

We mounted enlarged photographs from 1944 on building facades along Nowomiejska Street, Krzywe Koło Street, and the Old Town Market Square, printed like advertisements
on large-format surfaces.

The exhibition curator was Izabella Maliszewska from the Warsaw Uprising Museum,
with Adam Orlewicz as the artistic designer and Zygmunt Walkowski as the map creator.

The exhibition was funded by three Warsaw outdoor advertising companies:
Ale Okazja Media, Media Group Point, and Jet Line.
