Environmentally Friendly Billboards

We recommend two interesting projects implemented in Peru that combine outdoor advertising functions with pro-environmental activities.

Lima is a place where rain falls very rarely. Annual rainfall is only 100 to 600 mm. It has a subtropical desert climate and is also characterized by high humidity throughout the year. The air humidity is always very high - up to 98%, especially in the morning, which contributes to morning fog from June to December and consistently low clouds from May to November.

This problem was addressed by UTEC, or Universidad de Ingenieria y Technologia. It is a technical university that, together with the local advertising agency Mayo Draftfcb, developed a unique solution - a billboard that draws moisture from the air and turns it into drinking water.

Such a billboard is not just a cool ecological gadget - its main function is to advertise the university and support the recruitment process for its technical studies.

The media success of this project led UTEC, along with the supporting advertising agency, to develop and implement another project of this type. The new solution is a billboard that purifies the air. Peru is currently experiencing an investment boom in the real estate industry. Numerous construction sites cause dust and air pollution around them. UTEC itself is also contributing to this - the university is expanding its campus.

Once again, the billboard has two tasks - it promotes the university and its new campus, and filters about 100,000 m3 of dusty air per day.
Its area of impact is as much as 5 blocks, and the effect of the billboard's work can be compared to the impact of 1,200 trees.

Environmentally engaged billboards.
Technical university advertising.
Socially responsible business.
