Finale of the Aid for AK Soldiers in Belarus Campaign

"Aid for AK Soldiers in Belarus" is a Christmas aid campaign in which donors collect essential items, mainly food, and deliver them as packages to AK soldiers living in the borderlands of Belarus. The goal of the campaign is not only material and financial support,
but most importantly – to guarantee our compatriots that they are remembered. That's why Christmas cards with wishes are a very important element of the packages.

This year's campaign was a special undertaking for us due to the form in which its finale took place. On January 27-29, we traveled to Belarus. The timing was not coincidental, as at the same time the Odra-Niemen Association was finalizing its initiative supporting Poles living in Belarus. We decided to combine both expeditions and personally deliver the collected packages to the veterans.

The campaign finale took place on the last weekend of January. On Friday, we distributed packages among soldiers in the town of Iwieniec in central Belarus, near Minsk. We had the opportunity to meet Mrs. Teresa Sobol from the Union of Poles, who told us in detail about their fate.

On Saturday, we visited veterans in the city of Lida, close to the border with Lithuania.
Mr. Franciszek and Mr. Alfons, extremely grateful for the packages, eagerly told us their stories, showing decorations and photographs. Additionally, Mr. Franciszek took us to the local Polish cemetery, unfortunately - destroyed and neglected.

Then we went to Mosty, where we were welcomed in a very warm way by Major Weronika Sebastianowicz and her friends from the Association of Poles Living in Belarus. Their hospitality exceeded our wildest expectations. A band played live Polish music during the beautifully prepared dinner. The whole atmosphere was completed by stories about events that our Hosts had to face without losing their joy of life and sincerely motivating us to action.

We were not able to reach each veteran individually. Nevertheless, all packages were left in the care of Mrs. Weronika Sebastianowicz, who took care of delivering them to the soldiers on our behalf.

This year's "Aid for AK Soldiers in Belarus" campaign is not only record support - 400 kg of food and 3,350 PLN in cash. It is above all thousands of interesting stories, warm words, gratitude, memory and joy emanating from the people we met, whose lives have been tested and unfortunately continue to be tested in difficult circumstances.

The next aid campaign for AK soldiers living in Belarus is planned for Easter time. We will certainly write about it, and we invite everyone interested today.
